Bathhouse Listening Tower

Commissioned by the National Trust and located within the World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal in North Yorkshire sits the Bathhouse Listening Tower. Inspired by both the long-lost 18th-century Bathing House that once stood in the gardens, and a 17th-century Japanese water harp, FleaFolly built a 4m high water temple that held a giant terracotta vase that acts as an echo chamber to create an ever-lasting, finely tuned melodic splashing sound that is amplified through a series of copper ‘listening ears’.
